Wilbur C. Lewis, Moline, Illinois

Mr. Lewis served 18 months in Europe and was in five major battles.  He was with the 217th Anti-Aircraft Artillery when he was sent to assist in the liberation of Dachau.  He remained as a guard there until he was sent home at the end of his four years of military service.  He brought back with him many photographs of the victims at Dachau who died of unspeakable torture and starvation at the camp.  He wanted to insure that no one could say that these things did not happen.  Mr. Lewis, your compassionate efforts will always be remembered.
